About Me

Projects

As a promoter of free software and free access to knowledge I voluntarily work in different open source software (F/OSS) projects.

OpenUsability

OpenUsability is an initiative that promotes usability in free and open source software (F/OSS) development.

As a co-founder of the project, I am involved with organisational issues, but I am also an active OpenUsability consultant. Between 2006 and 2008, I've been the organiser of the Season of Usability, a series of sponsored student projects to encourage students of usability, user-interface design, and interaction design to get involved with F/OSS projects.

KDE

KDE is a Desktop Environment for Linux. It comprises a high number of applications which today can also be launched under Windows and Mac.

As a lead member of the KDE Usability Group, I used to work on Human Interface Guidelines for KDE4 (Draft), provided long-term usability support for several applications such as the PIM application Kontact or the diagramming application Kivio , and advised developers on urgent usability issues in chat sessions.
